The Flag of Freedom....The Gadsden Flag

Picture

                                       By Susan Steffen-Kraft

When it comes to symbolizing the spirit of freedom in my opinion, there is a better flag then the stars and stripes known as Old Glory! This flag has the symbol of a snake on it with the words Don't Tread on Me! The history behind this fascinating flag is very interesting and intertwined with one of our forefathers; Benjamin Franklin.

In the year 1751 he designed and published the picture of a snake cut in eight sections representing the colonies and the curve was the coastline. This was a plea for unity during the French and Indian War.  It was also a satirical writing by Franklin about how the British were sending convicted criminals to this country and Franklin in turn felt we should send rattlesnakes to them as a thank-you!

This turned out to be the first shared symbol of national identity. Join or Die was printed beneath the snake because the superstition at the time was that if cut in pieces a snake put back together could come back to life if it was put back together before sunset of that same day.

Then in 1765 the Stamp Act became the enemy to rally against in unity and against Great Briton. Great Briton decided being as they were in great debt to try and get their "children planted by our care, nourished by our indulgence," as a certain Mr.  Charles Townshend of the House of Commons put it -- to pay off England's debt?

The British government really had not done a lot for us. We flourished, expanded and grew despite what they did or didn't do. In fact in truth this country came about by people fleeing the British government's tyranny!
Sounds like today's government that keeps asking for more and more tax dollars to pay for the many and varied things they need that money for and that same government keeps intruding into the private lives of their subjects oops, I mean citizens, although it seems anymore as though we are subjects!

Picture
As the rebellion grew the snake symbol started coming into play. In 1774 Paul Revere of the famous midnight ride added it to the head of the Massachusetts Spy (Thomas's Boston Journal) showing a snake fighting the British dragon.
By 1775 it was appearing in numerous and sundry other places from buttons to paper money, and of course on flags and banners. It was no longer cut in pieces and had now morphed into an American Timber Rattlesnake. Rule to remember; a rattlesnake as a rule never bothers you unless it feels threatened. When stepped on it's retaliation is deadly and unforgiving!

Now comes the story of how this symbol first came to the history books. In 1775  the British were occupying Boston and the young Continental army was holed up in Cambridge and very short on supplies and ammo. That is not a good thing when you are facing an enemy so a plan was hatched to get the arms from the British. This was to be accomplished by capturing two cargo ships that the British were sending to America. The British knowing trouble when they saw it were sending all kinds of arms and gunpowder aboard these ships. Now what better way to get help then to plunder the enemy.

Thus the Navy was formed and consisted only of 4 ships. For this mission five groups of Marines were put together to accompany the Navy. Some of those Marines had yellow drums with a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Thirteen coils were part of the snake and the motto was Don't Tread on Me also on the drums. It so happens, in the Marine Committee was a Congressman by the name of  Thomas Gadsden, who was from S. Carolina and was a leader in the Sons of Liberty.

He created a flag for Commodore Esek Hopkins who was the first Commander in Chief of the U.S. Navy. We do not know if Thomas Gadsden saw the yellow drums carried by some of the Marines but he did use the same design and thus the flag was named after its maker..... The Gadsden Flag. This flag was no doubt raised by John Paul Jones then a 1st lieutenant and later to become a hero of the revolutionary war. The ship itself was the USS Alfred and the flag was the personal standard of Commodore Hopkins.

In Dec. 1775 an anonymous author wrote to the Pennsylvania Journal (who most scholars now believe was Benjamin Franklin) and speculated on why a snake might be chosen as a symbol for America. Indeed Mr. Franklin did not want the eagle chosen as our symbol because he believed it was of a bad moral character. I am sure this is why many scholars believe that he would be the one to extol the rattle-snake in this article.

First, it occurred to him that "the Rattle-Snake is found in no other quarter of the world besides America."
that the rattlesnake also has sharp eyes, and "may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance."

Furthermore,

"She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds 'till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her."

Finally,

"I confess I was wholly at a loss what to make of the rattles, 'till I went back and counted them and found them just thirteen, exactly the number of the Colonies united in America; and I recollected too that this was the only part of the Snake which increased in numbers. ...

"'Tis curious and amazing to observe how distinct and independent of each other the rattles of this animal are, and yet how firmly they are united together, so as never to be separated but by breaking them to pieces. One of those rattles singly, is incapable of producing sound, but the ringing of thirteen together, is sufficient to alarm the boldest man living."
Picture
After the Revolution the rattlesnake flags became less and less common. George Washington and members of Congress preferred "stars, stripes, and more conventional symbols, such as the eagle" which I feel is a shame and wonder if they should not have had both the eagle and rattlesnake  symbols of this country.

Over the years the Gadsden flag has become more and more associated with rebellion and lack of pride in one's government. I myself believe that is a perfect fit for these more recent years. Perhaps it should have been the flag all the way along. Rebellion can be shown in many different ways that are peaceful and yet firm. Lack of pride by the people in their government  is something a government brings on itself when it is oppressive, overtaxes and overburdens it's people with rules and regulations.
This recent growth of government and its powers that are flagrantly overreaching have infringed on our liberties and our freedom. Snooping and prying into it's citizens private lives to the point that I can see why this symbol of the snake and what it stands for is starting to become popular again.

Republic or Democracy?

Picture

                                   By Susan Steffen-Kraft

When we say the Pledge of Allegiance to whom do we give that allegiance? The answer being that the flag stands as a symbol for what we are pledging that allegiance to. Do we say and to the Democracy for which it stands? The answer is no we do not! We use the word Republic? The answer is definitely yes! The United States of America is a Republic which many people today do not seem to realize.  If you do not know the difference between a democracy and a republic there is one big difference!

A republic means that "the sovereignty is in each individual and in the word democracy the sovereignty is in the group!"  The Constitution restricts the governments power and that in essence is a Republic.  We have natural rights versus civil rights and the Bill of Rights protects the people from the majority! The people enjoy their God-given natural rights in a republic. In a democracy, the citizens would only enjoy government granted privileges which are also called civil rights. In a republic, the sovereignty resides in the people themselves, whether one or many. In a republic, one may act on his own or through his representatives as he chooses to solve a problem. Further, the people have no obligation to the government; instead, the government being hired by the people, is obliged to its owner, the people.

Delving a little further into this is the fact that in a democracy the minority has no rights as the privileges are granted by the majority. In a republic the group only has advisory powers. And in a republic the people have no obligation to the government because the government is hired by the people and because of that it is obliged to the people who own the government. The people can choose to exercise the right to use that sovereignty directly or through representatives as they choose in order to solve a problem.

The people do that by appointing those powers to the representative and thus, you have the power to not only reject the group think but even the representative. The representative is suppose to vote on behalf of the people instead of the people having to vote on every little issue which would find us living at the polls instead of having jobs, eating, going to church and spending time with families. I kid you not because if you see the amount of bills brought up to the House your head would spin. Mine does that with the amount of calls and petitions I sign.

In the above pictures is of top left....Samuel Adams, bottom left....Fisher Ames and on the right is Benjamin Franklin.

Samuel Adams, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, championed the new Constitution in his state precisely because it would not create a democracy. "Democracy never lasts long," he noted. "It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself." He insisted, "There was never a democracy that 'did not commit suicide.'"

Fisher Ames served in the U.S. Congress during the eight years of George Washington's presidency. A prominent member of the Massachusetts convention that ratified the Constitution for that state, he termed democracy "a government by the passions of the multitude, or, no less correctly, according to the vices and ambitions of their leaders." On another occasion, he labeled democracy's majority rule one of "the intermediate stages towards ... tyranny."
He later opined: "Democracy, in its best state, is but the politics of Bedlam; while kept chained, its thoughts are frantic, but when it breaks loose, it kills the keeper, fires the building, and perishes." And in an essay entitled The Mire of Democracy, he wrote that the framers of the Constitution "intended our government should be a republic, which differs more widely from a democracy than a democracy from a despotism."

The Constitutional Convention was held in 1787 in strict secrecy at the Pennsylvania State House the name later being changed to Independence Hall. The reason for the secrecy was that nobody who was not one of the delegates could know what they were discussing until after all the decisions were made. Not wishing the regular citizens to be fighting and debating over something that might not happen and over what they were saying they realized that when the final outcome arrived and was presented then Americans could debate all they wanted to if they wished to do so.

The citizens were very anxious to learn what had been produced behind the closed doors. Once the delegates left the building Mrs. Powel who lived in Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well doctor, what have we got?"He did not answer a democracy or even a democratic republic but replied without hesitating, "A republic, if you can keep it!"

Parts 3 and 4 of Overview of America in the videos below will also explain the history of democracies and
republics.

Why are we so confused today? Don't feel to bad as even President Ford in his inaugural address on August 9 added to the confusion by stating the "our great Republic is a government of laws, and not of men. Here the people rule."  Now that certainly is a paradox which means it is self-contradictory. How can our country be both a republic and a democracy at once? Riddle me that! The people are not the rulers as there was never to be any rulers over this country!  The Declaration of Independence states men "are endowed with certain unalienable rights" and governments are formed to "secure those rights."  If any government acknowledges these truths then they must have laws limiting both the people and government.

When did we start thinking this was a democracy? The answer is that it was not until this last century! Woodrow Wilson famously declared that we had fought World War I to "to make the world safe for democracy."  Franklin Roosevelt stated that "the U.S. must be the great arsenal of democracy."  Makes one wonder when he used the word arsenal just what he was implying. That our country would force democracy through it's arsenal on the rest of the world. Note that we would not even force a republic but a democracy!

When voters discover that in a democracy they can vote themselves money and or gifts from the public treasury they often vote for the candidates promising the most benefits for the voters. Then the democracy finally falls due to fiscal failure and a dictatorship follows.
Makes you wonder why the liberal media and politicians pulled this so called "bait and switch" on We the People because most everyone not only is taught we are a democracy in schools but they hear and read it everywhere. I would suspect that a dictatorship is what the powers that be were aiming for this entire time.

Paul Revere and His Famous Ride

Paul Revere and His Famous Ride
Picture

                                          By Susan Steffen-Kraft

Although Paul Revere is known most for his ride that happened April 18, 1775, which was 240 years ago on this date April 18, 2015 and which I hope every year is remembered. He should also be known for other things. He worked as an amateur dentist and became the first to practice forensic dentistry by identifying a friend's body who died on Bunker Hill. He did so not knowing he would be the first to do this but because he recognized the wires he had put on the friend's false tooth. He was also a silversmith by trade which gained him access to a cross section of British Society which served him well when he became active in the American Revolution.
Before the American Revolution he was a member of the Sons of Liberty that opposed tax legislation such as the Stamp Act of 1765. This group also organized demonstrations against the British which I am sure were not appreciated and viewed with a jaundiced eye. Paul Revere served as a rider for the Committee of Correspondence. Between 1773 and 1775 he also relayed messages about British troop movements from Boston to Philadelphia, New York and Harford.

On the night this famous incident happened in history, Paul Revere was not alone in his mission to warn that the British were on their way. Two others joined him and their names were William Dawes and and Samuel Prescott.  By the night's end fourty others had joined in riding to nameless glory to warn everyone across Boston's Middlesex County! In fact, the three riders had to split up because they were overtaken by the British. Revere was detained briefly by the British and Dawes lost his way after falling off his horse. This left Prescott to get to Concord and finish the job of warning people there.
Lest we forget the name of the borrowed mare, it was Brown Beauty. She was later confiscated by the British and unfortunately we shall never know what happened to that brave horse that Charlestown merchant John Larkin loaned to Revere for this famous of all rides.

Picture
Paul Revere never did say the words "The British are Coming" but said "The Regulars are Out!" The lantern signal was never for Paul Revere but for the citizens of Charlestown, to inform them that the British were on the move.  Before he left that night he instructed the sexton of the Old North Church to put up the two lanterns as he now knew the British were coming by the sea route.
In case he and the other riders did not get through the good citizens of Charlestown were to inform the countryside; a good plan on his part because obviously he knew it was "better to be safe then sorry!"

Yes there are a few discrepancies in this famous poem but there is enough truth to make it a beloved part of the history of Paul Revere's ride.
His actions, along with those of Willam Dawes, Samuel Prescott and the other unnamed and unknown riders prevented the British from capturing John Hancock and Samuel Adams who were in Lexington and a big supply of the patriot's ammunition which they would need for the opening battles of the Revolutionary War. In fact, at 5:00 AM in the morning Revere himself helped Adams and Hancock escape and then went back to Buckbank's Tavern to get Mr. Hancock's trunk of papers. It was then he heard the first shot fired on Lexington Green.

The Modern Way of Marriage Today

Picture

                                           By Susan Steffen-Kraft

Marriages are going down a strange path. I have no clue why and I suppose that through the years there have always been instances of the unusual. Let us push beyond the man and woman, man to man and woman to woman to the bizarre and weird. It seems to be happening more and more. I have a feeling that even those people who marry child brides (and for the record I do not approve of this) would even shake their heads at the idea of marrying a bridge or truck.

Apparently in June 2013 a lady from Australia by the name of Jodi Rose married a 600 year old bridge called The Devil's Bridge. Apparently the bridge is the perfect husband because it is strong and silent. Men take note of that. From all accounts there was no honeymoon. Gee, I wonder why!

Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer  fell in love with the Berlin Wall as a child and decided as an adult to marry it. This was in 1979 and when the wall came down she mourned her husband. Well, death comes to all I guess, even a wall.

Picture
Erika Eiffel, née LaBrie married the Eiffel Tower in 2007. Apparently she had courted the Tower for three years. Just how does one court an inanimate object. I wonder if her bow Lance that she used in archery was jealous. She had a relationship with her bow before falling for the Eiffel Tower.

Lee Jin-gyu married a dakimakura which is a type of pillow. Taking the pillow to theme parks and restaurants inspired him to marry her in 2008 and inspired me to scratch my head figuratively in puzzlement. When the pillow wears out
what will he do?

Then there is  the lady who married a Ferris Wheel named Bruce "I tie you flesh to steel," said the priest who resigned from the Catholic Church after his part in the ceremony. So I am guessing the Catholic Church does not approve of this kind of marriage!
After the priest said that Ms. Ducharme repeated her vow,  "I Linda, take you Bruce, in this sacred marriage. I pledge to you my heart, body and my spirit!" Nothing is mentioned as to what the Ferris Wheel aka Bruce said in his vow.

“I love Bruce for who he is. He’s a skydiver, he’s made of fiberglass, he’s made of steel and aluminum. I love his mechanical aspects — I love the smell of the hydraulics and the oil that runs through him,” Ducharme said.
I hope they remain faithful to each other as Ms. Ducharme had had previous relationships with an airplane and a locomotive. She was fired from her job when caught lovingly embracing the locomotive. The company she worked for did not accept romantic relationships like that at work. Hmmmmm!

Picture
The above examples are nothing compared to the confessions of a lady by the name of Maria Griffin who confessed to having had her "first orgasm" when thinking of the Chrysler Building. However, she then started falling for trucks, especially Ford trucks; "have you driven a Ford lately" or in her case have you married a Ford lately?"
She ended up buying one and then proceeded to marry it on Valentine's Day. They even went on a honeymoon. She is claiming that their "sex life is healthy and good."  Say what? How can that be as obviously my imagination is not that good.  I don't believe I have read anywhere on how to have sex with a truck.  I would add that I bet she does not have to worry about getting pregnant.
Picture
A Mr. Sevier has sought to marry his porn filled computer. I kid you not. He has claimed he fell in love with said computer and the thought of having sex with anything but this computer was what his desire became. No other objects or people could replace his object of affection sexually. He felt that if gay people could marry then he should have the same rights. Which is "the right to marry their object of sexual desire, even if they lack corresponding sexual parts, then I should have the right to marry my preferred sexual object."

Apparently the judge in Florida has tossed Mr. Sevier's  motion for now stating that "Perhaps the motion is satirical. Or perhaps it is only removed from reality. Either way, the motion has no place in this lawsuit." The lawsuit being one that was challenging Florida's refusal to recognize gay marriages that are performed legally elsewhere. That was when Mr. Sevier entered the picture to intervene with his
"other minority sexual orientation groups" being allowed to marry.

This is what people who  fall in love with objects and identify them as a gender, give them a name, and have what they believe is a fulfilling, loving, relationship with these items

Picture
These weird marriages have gotten out of hand. But now we will get into the marriages to animals. I knew people loved their pets but marriage?
A young lady in Denmark married her horse Thorgen. The Supreme Court of Denmark was forced to recognize this so now animal to human marriage is lawfully acknowledged. She has pleaded the case that she and Thorgen her husband aka the horse were victims of speciesism, which is similar to racism or sexism forms of prejudice.

Well that's a new one. I have no clue how that honeymoon went but we now move on to the "doggone" love saga. Joseph Guiso married his 5 year old Labrador Honey. He even read vows to the dog and she in turn licked his face which I guess made it a sealed deal.  He insists that his love for the dog is not sexual but married the dog so he would not feel guilty living with Honey out of wedlock.

I searched the meaning of out of wedlock at  www.thefreedictionary.com just to be sure and it states that Out of Wedlock means that  "of biological parents not married to each other; "this child was born illegitimately."  Does that mean that he and Honey are having babies so that had to legitimize their relationship?  I would have thought maybe "living in sin" more appropriate but no those are the words he used.

Picture
So if two men or two women will be able to legally wed each other and I am not getting into the wrong's or rights of this issue; then what is to stop the other groupings from getting married?  From there legalizing marriage to children (which by the way happens in some countries) and animals? We are on a slippery slope as marriage is suppose to be traditional in the sense of a man or woman and produce children.

If it's just a legal arrangement between people who really like each other, then what basis will there be to deny multiple people who want that legal recognition of multiple-partner marriages by the state or for people marrying animals, children, and objects to want equal recognition also. For them, they will want the same fair treatment or shall we say equal treatment as those two men or two women marrying each other.  How can we say no! I mean I would but can the government? They are the ones who opened up this can of worms by promoting and in some states recognizing gay marriages.

Now, if you want to have a different word for your relationship then by all means; a legal partnership if you will. But using the word marriage really makes the slide downhill inevitable. The fight to make polygamous marriage legal is led mostly by Christian right amazingly. Mark Henkel a Christian who is non-Mormon (and he is only one example of those who are fighting for this right) has been speaking in favor of accepted polygamy.

And below the most interesting marriage of all. A woman marrying herself. There is nothing new under the sun it is said. If so the world has always been in trouble. However with the media of today and modern advances these things that occur are much more accessible and visible and thus more promoted and discussed then hundreds of years ago.

Stepping Up and Speaking Out Takes Courage

Picture

                                       By Susan Steffen-Kraft

"I am going to speak on an issue that crosses political party  and religious lines! The other day I saw a Dec. 17, 2012 Sports Illustrated magazine and decided to read the article about R.A. Dickey and Kaylah Harrison. One athlete is female and an Olympic Gold Medalist in Judo and the other is male and a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. It took courage to put their story out there for all to see and read about. This is a prominent magazine and they told their story be despite the exposure to the general public.  They are just two of many champions who are stepping out and speaking up by telling their stories of childhood sexual abuse! I applaud them for doing so, for in the end they are setting an example to children who are not as prominent. It is to be hoped that others hopefully will gain courage from reading these stories and not be afraid to do the same thing.

Yamashiro a Japanese-American raised in California is a  gymnast has spoken of the sexual abuse she went through for several years with her coach Don Peters.  Katherine Starr formally Annabelle Cripes is a swimmer, born in Madison, Wis., to British parents. She too endured sexaul abuse over her 10 year career. The gymnast is small and soft spoken and described as  meditative and  spiritual. The swimmer  outspoken, imposing, and has been described as a "bulldozer" of a woman. Yet when they met they had one thing in common; as both been caught in the chain of sexual abuse!  Katherine Starr formed a group called safe4atheles.org. in order to help other athletes who have suffered.

Children need advocates for their welfare and this is just one example of someone who stepped up and stepped out to tell her story. There should be help for all who have suffered from this heinous act. It can happen anytime and anywhere to anyone.

I do not care what party or religion the abusers belong to. I do not care what party or religion Jerry Sandusky belonged to. I cried over what he did to his victims at Penn State. No one told and some people knew or had suspicions. Why were they silent as this man did what he did over the years?  Sandusky was a graduate assistant in 1966 under Paterno at Penn State. He then left but later came back in 1969 as an assistant coach in 1999. From that point on he was the host to many football camps and was active in a children's charity he had founded. It was called The Second Mile.

President George Bush praised this endeavor as a "shining example" of charity work in a 1990 letter and then Senator Rick Santorum awarded Mr. Sandusky with an Angels of Adoption award in the year 2002. Mr. Santorum later stated while he was running for Republican nomination for President that he had been "devastated"  by the scandal.  Sandusky fooled many people including a President and a Senator!

Mysteriously during the investigation of the Office of Attorney General several years of records from 2000 to 2003 came up missing; that is three years worth. One year was found eventually but the others never were. The search was for the records of the boys who had been through the Second Mile program from and for other information as well.
Jerry Sandusky had a respectable facade which in the end masked his manipulation and abuse of children. "It is the remarkable ability to conceal that makes these crimes so heinous," Judge John Cleland said. And yes, many times the facade and position they hold from a coach to a bus driver is what many child abusers hide behind. It is why so many children and adults when they grow up are afraid to speak out for fear they will not be believed.

And I feel I can say all this without any reservation as I was a victim for an entire year in the 5th grade.  I still do not care what political party or what church my abuser was part of nor do any victims of this heinous crime care either. They just want and need justice, care, love and understanding.

We are survivors, we are strong, and most of us have determined to never be victims again. Some unfortunately will be victims their entire life.  We want others to know and protect the innocent which is why we speak out. Make your child feel that they can come to you no matter what with no blame or embarrassment!  I had no one to turn to because when I was a child there were no groups, no counselors, nor did we know words to describe what was going on.

Know your child's friends, parents, teachers, babysitters, and always always make sure your child understands what is appropriate and what is not. It is so sad that adults like teachers, as an example, cannot give even hugs anymore without suspicion of behavior because of other adults actions.  It should never have come to this because many times a child needs that comfort and show of love from an adult. A simple act of caring now casts a shadow over simple acts of kindness and we have to wonder why this has happened.

Now cynicism and suspicion reign supreme so many times and children do not know what to think because of all the warnings against this insidious evil. It affects even we adults as now we have to fill out paperwork even for being a teacher in a children's church class so they can check we adults out to see if we have a record. I know I had to do that and it upset me because I am not a molester. Yet, because others have done these acts of molestation, I along with others have to be checked out through no fault of our own.

Sometimes there are things in life more important then politics and yet in some ways this is a political topic.  Yet the sickness in a person's head and heart cannot be fixed by more laws and government! Some of the answers lie in what we must do which is to always be careful, watchful, and ready to protect the innocent among us! We must be vigilant in our duty and if somehow the unthinkable happens, then the court system must step in and justice hopefully prevails.

I Am Alive Follow Up

Picture

  By Susan Steffen-Kraft

My biological mother was upset when she read the article I wrote entitled I Am Alive. She said I had put to many personal details as my sister explained to me. Then she informed me I was lucky to be here because my mother had begged the doctor for an abortion when she found out she was pregnant. The doctor refused. Was luck part of it? I do not think so!

What she did not realize is that the Mother who adopted me had prayed for 11 years for a baby. God was going to answer her prayer in his own time and way. And I was the answer and God would not be stopped from fulfilling the sincere and earnest prayers my Mother was sending up to him every day!

U cannot control God. If he says Yes, No, or Maybe and Wait awhile then whatever you want is irrelevant! If you petition God you must accept his answer. My biological mother could not stop God from answering my adoptive mothers prayers. God stopped the doctor from saying Yes to the abortion!  When I realized what a miracle had happened I cried, I was even angry that she had felt that way and wanted to abort me.

I have stated that rape of a young girl would be grounds for abortion. And in the end I found out she was raped. Innocent and naive she did not know what was happening. She knew when she found out she was pregnant it would change her life forever. I did not walk in her shoes so I cannot judge her. But I am glad God was on my side. I was in his mind before this incident happened and he knew this would take place. Decisions were made that would change lives forever. But in the end God made lemonade out of lemons!

I can see why in that day and age things were not easy if you were in the family way. The church jumped all over her. They lectured my biological Dad and threw him out of the church which I understand. But my father told them she had seduced him. At her age I think not,  but he was looking for a way out. I mean he was married and everyone in the church knew him.

God has a plan for all of us. The plan for me was to be part of the parents lives who raised me. They loved and cherished me. My mother taught me to stand for what I believe in and even in school to learn and answer the questions and get good grades. But I was still to write and answer the way I believed!  Even though she was not political although Republican she and my father had no objections to me becoming a member of the John Birch Society!  They asked for my political opinions and how they should vote and why! They had trained me well to think for myself and use common sense, something they firmly believed in.

My God is an Awesome God, He reigns from Heaven Above. If I were not here neither would my son or daughter be here or my two beautiful granddaughters. Things have a way of working out for the best if we let God  work his will! When you get discouraged about the politics going on in this world remember that "God's In His Heaven All's Well With the World"! We must stand for what we believe in and let God take care of the rest.

I Am Alive: The Third Side of the Triangle

I will with what I say upset both Conservatives and Liberals, Republicans and Democrats! But this is my story! I will not apologize for being alive. My Mother was pregnant by the time she was 17 by an older man who was married. His wife was also pregnant! Would I be here if there had been easy access to abortions! I have never asked her but I will have to. The answer may not be the one I want to hear but I am glad I am alive as were the two people who became my parents and adopted me.

I always knew I was adopted as from the time they got me when I was a little over a month old.  My mother told me the same story every night. It was about a young lady that could not keep her baby and so she gave her up to some people that wanted a baby very badly. One day I asked her if that baby was me. She told me yes and that was that as I accepted it and have always maintained that this is a good way to tell a child they came to their parents in a different way.

My Mother came to college for a special Brunch and a few days later she wrote me a letter and in it was this paragraph.  "The Mother-Daughter Brunch will always be among my nicest memories. Thank You so much for being my daughter". Yes, Susan, God was answering my prayers all those eleven years. He was saying,  "Be patient, I have a little girl all picked out for you-but you must wait". "I'm so glad we waited."

My middle name is Joy, because I brought them Joy! She told me so! Would there have been Joy if I had been aborted! No! My father did not even want another man's child until he held me and then he did not want to let me go! So for all of you who believe in abortion, think long and hard.
The pictures below and the one above are of my parents.

Picture
Now for the other side of the story! I was sexually molested for an entire year! I was just old enough (5th grade) I could have gotten pregnant! The body is not developed enough or the mind to handle this situation at all! Do you think if I had gotten pregnant that my parents should not have had the right to make the choice to whether or not to terminate the life I could have been carrying! At the risk of my life should they and the doctors not have been  able to make a decision to save me physically and mentally which may have meant termination of the pregnancy!

You may well ask if I told anyone about this. In that time frame there were no counselors, no groups and no help. I would not even have known the words to describe what was happening. Thank God there is more help for children being molested in this day and age.

Both sides of this situation need to think long and hard before you answer. Either way my life would have been changed forever!  For most of you there is only your side of the Triangle. But wait, a triangle is three sided! The third side being the one you choose to ignore! I hope I do not stand alone on this!

Picture
There are other ideas and options. How about everyone pulling together to fight for adoptive parents to have an easier time to adopt! Less stringent rules, cheaper, and so on. And let us not forget that many children are stripped from their adoptive home due to the fact the Mother changes her mind or the father finds out and says "I did not know about the child!"

The child now 1-3 years old  is then taken from the loving adoptive parents and given to someone else.  This is wrong! I am glad my parents got to raise me. Rules need to be in play to protect the adoptive parents and the child.

We should have more choices to offer pregnant mothers other than abortion and that they should raise the child even though they are many times one themselves. This creates less of a need for people to go overseas to adopt a child . And of course less children aborted and more couples are happy because they now have a child they wanted so badly.

Sadly it is all about I am right on both sides of this issue. No thought that there might be a third side to the triangle. We are playing with people's lives when we cannot look beyond our own selfish and I am right ideas!

I read and saw pictures of a little girl in India that had two children and was just 13 years old. She was a baby herself and because of having them so young she was bleeding all the time.
The below is a link to this problem in India.
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/06/child-brides/gorney-text/2

This is a different country and we cannot stop what happens there but we can stop what is happening to young children here if they get pregnant and are too young to be having babies physically!

What do you do about a girl who is pregnant by her uncle? That is rape, incest, and endangerment of her life. Do we force her to carry that baby because the Pro Life group believe having an abortion is wrong. Wait until it happens to their 12 or 13 year old. Many of them will think different.
Many of you who believe in abortions would have sacrificed a child like me for your own selfish reasons even though that child might contribute something to the world.

I have two wonderful children and two beautiful grandchildren! They would not be here if I were not! This is my story, I have lived it and I have no regrets for how I came into this world as it was not my fault. I am here, I am alive, and I have many people who love me! I am blessed!

Thank You to my biological mother for carrying me in her tummy and giving me up to the wonderful people who raised me and a Thank you to the mother who raised me for carrying me in her heart.

Not flesh of my flesh,

Nor bone of my bone,

 But still miraculously

My own

Never forget

For a single minute;

You didn't grow under my heart

                                            But in it.

The Last Good President

Picture
                                                      By Susan Steffen-Kraft

I continue to maintain that John F. Kennedy is and was the last good President and others may disagree. Reagan from all appearances tried to do right things, but when faced with an assassinations bullet he knew his days were numbered if he did not do as the people behind the scenes who pull the strings wanted. They are know by several names; Global Elite, New World Order and so on. Kennedy did not bow the knee to those who would try and control him.....no he did not. He stood up to the threat of Nuclear war, the rogue CIA and the Globalists and for that in itself, he deserves the respect we owe him.

When  Kennedy called for a return of America’s currency to the gold standard, and the dismantling of the Federal Reserve System — he actually minted non-debt money that does not bear the mark of the Federal Reserve; when he dared to actually exercise the leadership authority granted to him by the U.S. Constitution, Kennedy prepared his own death warrant. It was time for him to go. — Colonel James Gritz, Called to Serve: Profiles in Conspiracy from John F. Kennedy to George Bush, Lazarus Publishing

The President signed executive order 11110 on June 4, 1963 giving the government the power back to issue currency without going to the powerful and illegal Federal Reserve.  His order gave the Treasury power "to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury."

sThis meant for every ounce of silver in the Treasury vault, new money could be brought into circulation. This bill had and meant enormous ramifications for the Federal Reserve, as with the stroke of his pen it would put the Federal Reserve of New York out of business. If for one minute you think that would not create him powerful enemies you are mistaken.

This President wanted us debt free as a nation. The Constitution itself gives Congress the authority to coin their own money. But because they have not and he was killed we continue to pay billions of dollars in interest on debt created from money that is made from plain old paper and backed by nothing.
And folks this executive order is still valid and so tell me why no President has not made use of it? Curious in my humble opinion!

Another reason was that Kennedy had sent two aides to Vietnam to gather information on what was going on there. When they got back they handed him a memo that convinced him we needed to leave that war.

Report of McNamara-Taylor Mission to South Vietnam.

With this report in hand, President Kennedy had what he wanted. It contained the essence of decisions he had to make. He had to get re-elected to finish programs set in motion during his first term; he had to get Americans out of Vietnam. — Col. L. Fletcher Prouty, JFK: The CIA, Vietnam, and The Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy, Carol Publishing Group, p. 264.

Fletcher Prouty tells us that,

"On Nov. 22, 1963, the government of the United States was taken over by the superpower group that wanted an escalation of the warfare in Indochina, and a continuing military buildup for generations to come". — Ibid. p. 264.

"Kennedy’s attempt to withdraw from Vietnam was first stopped, and then reversed in three months. With NSAM 288, in March 1964, President Johnson signed off on battle plans for a huge air war against North Vietnam. In other words, what Kennedy refused to do for three years, LBJ did in three months. Less than 18 months after Kennedy’s death, Johnson inserted combat troops into Vietnam, something Kennedy had never contemplated and specifically rejected eight specific times. This would result in the deaths of over 2 million Vietnamese and 58,000 Americans".  By Jim DiEugenio

But these powers that were now in control did not want us out of Vietnam. Thus wheels were set in motion to plot his murder at the same time he was planning to deescalate this dastardly war.

Operation Northwood! Have you heard of it? If not you need to. It was a series of false flag operations that involved acts of terrorism in our U.S. cities and elsewhere. It would be made to look as if Cuba were behind it so we could create a war with Cuba which had recently become communist.
They would do all this to generate public support for this war with Cuba. You always need a reason you know for a war and if there is none, create it.
So real or simulated incidents would have targeted the military and civilians alike.

"Operation Northwoods proposals included hijackings and bombings followed by the introduction of phony evidence that would implicate the Cuban government.

It stated: "The desired resultant from the execution of this plan would be to place the United States in the apparent position of suffering defensible grievances from a rash and irresponsible government of Cuba and to develop an international image of a Cuban threat to peace in the Western Hemisphere"

Other sources will say pretty much the same thing. As to the Joint Chiefs of Staff;  they approved of this, but the President had other thoughts and thus he created even more enemies. On all sides this man was being closed in on by the people who hated him.

Now on to Lyndon B. Johnson and his part.  He had aspirations to be President, and by hook or crook he determined he would have that job. Ruthless and cunning he knew what was going to happen. He hated the Kennedy's and they hated him. John Kennedy was blackmailed into taking LBJ as his running mate. But he was going to drop Johnson as his Vice-President in the "64 election. The dye was cast in his mind; Johnson must go!

Also according to former Nixon staffer Rodger Stone, "Robert Kennedy was within days of destroying LBJ with a two-track program. One was a RFK-fed LIFE magazine expose into LBJ’s epic corruption and ties to his protégé’s Bobby Baker’s scandals. The other was a Senate Rules Committee investigation, also fed by Robert Kennedy, into LBJ’s corruption and kickbacks,” Stone said. “Desperate” does not even begin to describe LBJ’s situation. LBJ was on the verge of not just national humiliation and being dropped from the 1964 Demo ticket, he was looking at the slammer.”

The above link is full of information.  And while I believe that Johnson was part of this and had knowledge of what would happen, he was not the only one. Many many others were involved and or knew what was going to take place and why.

Members of the mob were angry at the President and his brother claiming they had broken their balls to get him elected and now he was allowing his brother to hound them to death. "After the assassination, Hoffa told Ragano that he was delighted. "Did you hear the good news? They killed the son-of-a- bitch bastard."  It was later they acknowledged they should have gotten rid of Robert and not John.

To many enemies for the frail President who was always in pain and was facing many challenges. From the CIA to Johnson, from the Federal Reserve to the Mob, he was surrounded and yet there are others in this tale of murder and revenge and more to this story then I can put in a simple blog article. The threads are interconnected and tangled but still there. They are clinging and yet secret unless you work at seeking out the truth.  "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive, and deceive us they did. But the truth is out there intermingled with John F. Kennedy's blood.

REST IN PEACE Mr. President.....you were the last good man to hold office. And if this angers both Republicans and Democrats then that is just too bad. Was he perfect, hell no! But at least he did love this country enough to die for it. When he said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" he meant it. He did not just talk the talk, he walked the walk!
