The War on Flags

I suppose we should have known that if they called for the Confederate flag to come down after the mass killing of people in an African American church in S. Carolina that next would be the Rainbow flag for its supposed bigotry towards Christians. But did you know that the POW/MIA flag is also being targeted? All this has accomplished is to set people against each other and over a flag which is a piece of material!  We do live in a free country and flags on private property should be a personal choice.

State flags themselves are certainly acceptable on public buildings. I love both my state's flags; Washington and Idaho. But mostly I love both my states. One I was born and raised in and the other I have lived in for years. I would love to see on the State Capitol grounds of any state a memorial or special spot inside or outside for flags of historical meaning, which would be quite interesting and of value for learning.

I do not practice the gay lifestyle, but that does not mean I am against them flying their rainbow flag from their house or yard. I have to stand for their right to do that; to not do that would be wrong if I stand for freedom. I do not have to stand with a lifestyle or an attitude, that is a different matter. As with many flags, including this one, they should not be on public buildings. Taxpayers have different beliefs so thus you cannot have a public building flying all kinds of  flags or the building would be covered with flags. The Stars and Stripes should only be on a Federal public building at the countries capitol. On state buildings, of course, the state flag should be flown with the Stars and Stripes flag.

"The Christian Flag is the only free flag in the world. It is different from every other flag, religious or secular, ancient or modern. It is uncontrolled, independent, and universal. Unlike all national flags and all denominational flags of various churches, it has no earthly bonds or allegiances. Christ and Christ alone is its Master. Without limitation, it exists for all the world's people regardless of sex, race, national boundary, economic condition, affluence, or poverty, politics, slavery or freedom.

It cannot be restricted by any nation or denomination. This unique, universal quality makes it like the air we breathe, belonging to all and yet owned by none. For those who want it, wherever and whenever, it is freely theirs. All church flags are organizational symbols of specific corporate, legal, religious entities. The Roman Catholics, Episcopalians, United Methodists, Baptists, United Church of Christ, and others have flags, official or otherwise, but limited to their use and ruled by them. Not so with the Christian Flag. This flag stands in its own right, shines by its own spiritual light, true, free, untrammeled, uncompromised. It belongs only to Christ and the Cross which symbol it bears".   Quote from  António Martins-Tuválkin, 8 February 2003

It has a uniqueness all it's own so perhaps, in this case, the states should decide, but I know this, that churches and privately owned buildings should have the right to fly this flag or their own flag official or otherwise.

A Mr. Perlstein who wrote an article for The Washington Spectator has claimed that the POW/MIA is nothing more than an "invented cult" by the now dead President Richard Nixon "in order to justify the carnage in Vietnam in a way that rendered the United States as its sole victim."  "That damned flag: it's a shroud. It smothers the complexity, the reality, of what really happened in Vietnam," he concluded. "We've come to our senses about that other banner of lies. It's time to do the same with this." Of course, there are Missing in Action Prisoners of War and just because some refuse to acknowledge that is of no consequence to me and those of us who know and believe it. The proof is there if anyone should care to look.

The POW/MIA flag is tied to the National League of POW/MIA Families. This was born in June 1969 as the National League of Families of American Prisoners in Southeast Asia. The mission of this flag was to spread awareness of the mistreatment of prisoners of war at the hands of their captors which is quite worthy. It was the brainchild of Karen Butler, wife of Navy pilot Phillip Butler, who had been shot down over North Vietnam in April 1965. Also, Sybil Stockdale, whose husband, Navy Commander James Bond Stockdale, was the highest-ranking POW in North Vietnam joined in on this endeavor.  Stockdale had been held prisoner since September 1965 when his A-4 Skyhawk went down over North Vietnam and he was taken captive.

Why do we want to take this flag down so bad? Who does it really hurt? It stands for what they believe and they do not want us to forget the missing prisoners of war.

Now to the Confederate Flag story! All would agree with NAACP's  Earl Sheinhoster when he made the statement that the flag "represents state sovereignty, state rights and resistance to federal control!"  Recently when polls were taken in the two states who fly the battle flag at their capitols; the polls proved that not just a large majority of white citizens (69%) but a sizable minority of black citizens  (32% in S. Carolina and 28 % in Alabama) wish to see the flag keep flying and it is not my right to tell them they cannot.

False broadcast about the meaning of this flag has probably caused the figures for both races to be lower. For the Southern tradition, the battle is really not about the flag but about the state sovereignty that was fought under it. Whether you agree with the war or not we should support states rights in general if they are standing with the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Sadly our Federal Government does not stand with those anymore and I don't blame the states for keeping those flags. Heritage and tradition are very important in the South and I believe they will not strike their colors until a constitutionally limited government has been restored. That I stand with them on!

According to law enforcement officials, the Don't Tread on Me flag with the Snake symbol that is displayed most often by militia members and other organizations is "possibly indicative of terrorist or criminal operations."

Then in New Rochelle, New York in 2013 according to the mayor and city council of that town that flag was  such an offensive symbol they wanted it taken down right away.at the  New Rochelle, New York Amory.
Another example of wishing to get rid of this flag was
David Tinney who is the vice president of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters, the Don't Tread on Me flag is  the equivalent of the Confederate flag, and therefore reason to agitate and remove it from the New Haven Fire Department flagpole! They were successful I might add!

UC Irvine student government leader Matthew Guevara decided he felt "unsafe" with the American Flag hanging in the student lounge on campus. He took matters into his own hands and rounded up enough signatures on a resolution to ban the American Flag from a student lounge on campus.
Really, the American Flag makes you feel unsafe! If raising up if an inanimate object like a “flag” makes them feel unsafe in the freest country in the world then some people are indeed stupid and have no backbone.
His parents came from Mexico so if this country is so bad, evil and repressive then why the heck is he here? Oh, yes. He got financial aid. "

Here is a statement from Matthew in answer to the question,  "Why not say no to essentially American blood money?"  "I don’t really agree with it, but it’s kind of using the tools of the system to bring down the system or create change later on".
There you are, folks. Someone wanting to take the Stars and Stripes down to bring down the system or create change. His money should be jerked from him and he can pay his own way.

Think the above two flags are going to be taken down? Too bad because they are staying up and flying high and proud! You don't like my teams and you are rooting for someone else then go ahead. These flags, the stickers and banners of these two teams are staying along with my loyalty! If you think Seattle 12 fans are taking any flags down or the Boise Bronco fans are taking their flag down; think again! Do you get the idea now? I hope so!

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

In closing, I believe that if you are not a citizen of this country and you put up your countries flag here in the United States of America then I am not for that. In your own country yes, you have that right. The exception being cultural festivals where food and clothes of different countries are being sold at booths and even in museums like the Basque one here in Boise, Idaho where many things are on display and there are restaurants decorated up with things to look at while you eat their food. Temporary guests, of course, have a right to fly their identification flag as the Pope did on his vehicle. Obviously, there is a difference between the examples I have cited and the proverbial slap in the face by supposed protestors and revolutionaries flying flags for no reason but pure rebellion.

This begs the question as to why are we not getting rid of the flags of different countries that are flying in our country in front of the UN building. They are not guests and certainly not citizens. They have been here for years and the UN is mostly funded by this countries' government. The UN flag itself is an evil flag that should be torn down and trample
d on if any are to be.

Phyllis Schlafly: Woman of Courage

Picture

                                   By Susan Steffen-Kraft

In the 1970's Phyllis Schlafly took it to the ERA movement. They never understood what hit them. It was a bitter battle which left the ERA gasping for air and eventually going down in flames. It was her biggest accomplishment politically. The NOW group had no love for her either.

The feminists were angry including the ever charming Betty Friedan! She stated she would like to burn Phyllis Schlafly at  the stake. Whew! She and the rest of the feminist movement had 3 presidents behind them; of which two were Republicans and one a Democrat. They were Nixon, Ford, and Carter.

In 1972, the Feminist movement of NOW were going after their goal; to ratify the ERA! Feminists were radical with a goal of pushing the idea the it was alright to be single and divorced thus creating large amounts of fatherless children.

Phyllis herself was called out for having a career while urging mothers to stay home. She clarified that by explaining that she had had different things at different times in her life. That while she believed that woman can do anything they want and she herself obviously set an example of what she stood for. For 25 years, she had no income, separate income, and also raised her 6 children.

As she so aptly explained, the feminist movement does not laud or appreciate women who are successful. They only pointed out how women are unfairly treated in our society, and how they need and should get taxpayer money.  Also, they felt that women need legalization and the government to make it in today's world.

Phyllis had no Internet, no e-mail, no fax machines to help rally an opposition. Her determination to stop this was the motivation that pushed her. Almost single-handed she barnstormed the country with her supporters and lobbied state legislatures. She debated feminist leaders and then for good measure she founded the Eagle Forum in 1976. This was a group of a national organization of volunteers that championed conservative causes. The Positive Woman, in which she compared a traditional wife and homemaker, pro-family and pro-defense ideal, to feminist ideals and values, was published in 1978. Her style and content again offended readers across the political spectrum, but that did not matter to her. The Equal Rights Amendment was rejected

Phyllis kicked off her Stop ERA campaign launched in February 1972, with an article she wrote: "What's Wrong with Equal Rights for Women?"  Then over the next 10 years, approximately 100 issues of her Phyllis Schlafly Report were devoted to exposing the bad effects of the amendment.

The ERA would actually have taken away some women's rights. They based their arguments on the writings of pro-ERA law professors, among them believe it or not, current Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The amendment would require women to be drafted into military combat any time men were conscripted.

It would also abolish the presumption that the husband should support his wife and would have taken away Social Security benefits for wives and widows. This would have given the federal courts and the federal government a new power of immense proportion that would reinterpret every law that makes a distinction based on genders; especially those related to marriage, divorce and alimony.

It would also have transferred state power to the federal government. This is what the ERA would have done. She also believed that the worst thing the liberals did to this country was giving us Lyndon Johnson welfare system. That  broke up millions of marriages by funneling taxpayers' money solely to the woman which in turn made the father and husband of no importance.

Phyllis Schlafly was an intelligent lady who never backed down from a battle and she absolutely believed that the movement pushed the idea that self-fulfillment was very important. In fact so important that other values were to be pushed aside. This, as she put was "not compatible with a happy marriage, a successful marriage, and with motherhood".  One of her quotes was that "Feminism is doomed to failure because it is based on an attempt to restructure human nature."

She is also a book writer with one of her most famous books entitled "A Choice not an Echo!" This book exposed the kingmakers for the presidential choices that turned out to be disastrous for this nation.

Who were some of those Kingmakers? Nelson Rockefeller, Henry Cabot Lodge, Arthur Dean, and Paul Hoffman to name a few. They are motivated because they hold an interest in the welfare state, deficit spending and last but not least, foreign giveaway programs which became American Last policy.
They manipulated both parties and those disastrous choices because resulted in the foreign policy that appeased the communist governments.

A busy lady through all these years with so many accomplishments. She is the author or editor of 20 books. She has run the pro-family Eagle Forum which is a national volunteer organization. In its 47th year at this point is her Phyllis Schlafly Report. She has radio commentaries on more than 600 stations. She also hosts a radio talk show called "Eagle Forum Live" which is on 90 stations and heard weekly plus you can hear it on the internet.

Phyllis was also named one of the 100 most important women of the 20th century by none other than the Ladies' Home Journal and in 1992 named the Illinois Mother of the Year. In my humble opinion, even at age 90, she is an Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove.

As she delves into t
he monstrous Law of the Sea Treaty, Constitutional Convention, Pro-Family, Common Core Education and a firm believer there is a war on Religious Freedom plus other topics; she shows how well studied and versed she is.
Thank-You Phyllis for your work and dedication to this country!
