Be Prepared in Case of Emergency-Part 4
By Susan Steffen-Kraft
In his speech, Sen. Paul warns Americans that:
"Know good and well that some day there could be a government in power that is shipping its citizens off for disagreements. There are laws on the books now that characterize who might be a terrorist.
Someone missing fingers on their hands is a suspect according to the Department of Justice. Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist.
If you are suspected by these activities do you want the government to have the ability to send you to Guantanamo Bay for indefinite detention?"
You have no clue how happy that makes me, knowing that I could be a potential terrorist even with no guns in my possession.
Rand also warned that under new provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act, the federal government can lock you up indefinitely if you are suspected of activities that they consider of a terrorist nature. In other words, the military will now have the power to lock up anyone and that includes American citizens, without any due process and without being convicted of any crime.
"Robin Speronis has lived off the grid, independent of the city’s water and electric system. A Florida court ruled this off-the-grid living illegal last week and has given Robin until March to connect her home to a municipal water line or face possible eviction. Further, officials in the city of Cape Coral have justified this by deeming Robin’s home “unsanitary,” citing the International Property Maintenance Code. First of all, since when did we begin to locally recognize “international codes?” Where in the US Constitution does it provide for international jurisdiction over local codes? Ironically, this “international” code mandates that homes be connected to an electricity grid and a running water source, even though most of the world lives without reliable electricity and municipal water and sewer.
Further, the code is outdated and obsolete because it was written without consideration to both old and new technologies that relegate the need for grid tied power and municipal water as unnecessary and expensive; especially, in locations where it simply isn’t feasible to have grid tied utilities. Nonetheless, Speronis’ home does in fact have power and water through far cheaper and more environmentally friendly means — solar panels and rainwater, but that reality is ignored by the local government."
And the harm is what? International codes; why do we have to recognize and follow them? An outdated code that is old should never have to be followed and things like that have to be and should be updated.
One of the things the LDS Church was told several years ago was that they had to stop canning their homegrown peaches because as they were told by the government entity inspecting them, “they were too juicy.” Yes, that is what was told to them. It seems as though the USDA always finds fault when they show up in inspect the facilities no matter how closely they try and follow all the rules. That is an easy way to make a buck, because you can fine anyone at a place like this for the most teeniest thing.
The point of this is that our government wants people to be dependent on their welfare program, not a private programs that actually work. Rumors abound as to the closing of or changes required to the LDS canneries. I myself, have spoken to several LDS friends and they have heard of these problems. Imagine if you will the continued harassment of people storing up, preparing, and helping others because you must follow one of those tiny tiny rules that on a day to day basis may be hard to follow even if overall your facility is clean, neat and accident free.
And from the Christian World View Network comes this: “Ohio authorities stormed a farm house in LaGrange Monday, December 1, to execute a search warrant, holding Jacqueline and John Stowers and their son and young grandchildren at gunpoint for nine hours. During the raid the Ohio Department of Agriculture and police confiscated over ten thousand dollars worth of food, computers and cell phones. The Stowers’ crime? They run a private, members-only food co-op… While state authorities were looking for evidence of illegal activities, the family was not informed what crime they were suspected of, they were not read their rights or allowed to make a phone call.
The children, some as young as toddlers, were traumatized by armed officers interrogating the adults with guns drawn. The Morning Journal, a newspaper serving northern Ohio, reported that the Stowers were believed to be operating without a license. However, the Stowers claim that the food co-op they run does not engage in any activities that would require state licensing. Friends of the Stowers openly question why such aggressive tactics were necessary to investigate a licensing complaint.”
Still think they are not interested in your food and other things? The food raids on the people in Ohio (who are just one of many examples I could give) whose only crime seems to be that they are producing and storing food without a “license!” Of course the government feels left out because they do not have the control they would like. This must seem bizarre to most people who are hearing of this for the first time but it will be coming more and more over the following months and years. If you expect the main media to report on these things you will be sadly disappointed.
Eustace from Discovery Channel’s Mountain Men wished to learn the old ways to living independently and off the grid. What you don’t know is the constant harassment he has undergone from government entities over the years and here in this video below is his story in his own words.
Ah yes, they will in the end probably use the IRS who has your records, to audit you and since the BTAF controls the IRS they may, for example, search your home while you are at the audit. The government may take a few years but eventually that immense data base will pay dividends for the them. Please don't think a bank is a safe place because the DHS can seize your bank accounts and look in your safe deposit box at any time. They can seize gold of any type, firearms and or anything they deem contraband. I would not advise using the banks safety deposit boxes for those reasons. Have one in your house or hide the contents in some other way.
Read the orders that are signed which gives the government control over most everything you have in case of national emergency. This is done through FEMA! Started by Nixon, passed to Carter, then Reagan, and then Bush gave it more bite! Now Obama has signed even more rights away.
The latest executive order signed by President Obama on March 16, 2012 makes clear that in the event of a nationally deemed emergency these particular resources will fall into the hands of our governments authority.
The signing of the National Defense Resources Preparedness executive order grants the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense and other agencies complete control of all US resources, including the ability to seize, confiscate or re-delegate resources, materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense.
